Jérôme Aupin, Maître Artisan

Born in France, Jérôme Aupin first became an optician, graduating in Paris in 2007, and spent more than a decade in the most demanding Parisian eyewear boutiques, beside the most exclusive designer brands.

Clients kept asking for the impossible — a little bigger, a little darker, a longer temple, no logo. Nobody could explain how a frame was made, so he decided to learn every step himself.

Founded JAUPIN in 2017, then was recognised Maître Artisan in 2020 — a title awarded in France by the Chambre de Métiers et de l’Artisanat to craftsmen whose mastery of their trade is recognised.

Opened the JAUPIN boutique at Gate Avenue, DIFC, Dubai, in 2021, with its open workshop at the heart of the store.

Sophisticated, timeless, technical

Timeless frames with a detail that looks like you. Metal is his speciality — the most demanding material — and his jewellery background allows him to set precious stones on eyewear.

People often ask him which of his creations is his favourite. His answer never changes: the next one. He puts all his heart and energy into every new piece, and loves to push detail and technique a little further each time.

“My first meeting with a client looks more like a personal therapy. What matters is to understand who you are, or who you want to be, with your new glasses.”
