# JAUPIN

> JAUPIN is a bespoke eyewear house founded in Paris in 2017 by Jérôme Aupin, optician and Maître Artisan. Its boutique and open workshop are at Gate Avenue, Zone 1, DIFC, Dubai, where bespoke glasses and sunglasses are designed with each client and handmade at the bench.

JAUPIN makes four kinds of pieces: bespoke frames designed for one person; LEGENDARY, handmade jewel eyewear; the Lorgnette, a folding reading glass in gold and diamonds; and factory-made limited editions. Prices are in UAE dirhams (AED) and include 5% VAT in the UAE.

Key facts:
- Bespoke frames start from AED 5,000 (cellulose acetate). Buffalo horn, silver, gold and stone-set frames are quoted on design.
- A bespoke pair takes three appointments: an interview with measurements and design; a fitting of 3D-printed prototypes about two days later; delivery with final adjustments, 10 days to 4 weeks after the fitting depending on the design.
- The first appointment has no fee. Design and prototypes begin with an AED 1,000 commitment, deducted from the order.
- Materials: cellulose acetate (more than a hundred colours in stock), genuine buffalo horn, brass, silver, 14k and 18k gold, precious stones, inlays of mother-of-pearl, leather, enamel or fabric. Engraving is possible, including Arabic calligraphy.
- Visitors to Dubai can book before they arrive; finished pairs are shipped worldwide by insured express.
- LEGENDARY pieces come with a certificate of authenticity with an NFC chip. Limited editions have no certificate.
- JAUPIN does not use 3D face scanning: measurements are taken by hand.

## The Lorgnette
- [The Lorgnette](https://www.jaupin.com/lorgnette): a folding reading glass in 18k gold set with 165 diamonds (about 4.55 ct), shown in white gold with white and black diamonds; engraving, lenses, gold colour and stone colours are chosen to order. Folded, it becomes a brooch pinned on a pocket. Made to order in about four weeks, price on request; prescription lenses possible depending on the correction.
